1903 Springfield Armory 1913

Hey Guys,

Picked up this lovely Low Number Gem. I know some people cringe at the mere word of low number 1903s. But personally I have an unhealthy addiction to the pre-war 1903s.

I love the craftsmanship and the artwork in creating these beauties.

I got this piece a couple weeks ago and it finally came it. It appears all correct at first glance I need to go over it with a fine tooth comb. There's plenty of experts out there that will be able to correct me.

The finish is mostly gone but turned to a lovely gray patina. The markings are nice and crisp. The stock cartouches are still present. Love 1 bolt stocks!!! The bore is pristine. Looks to be a high hump handguard but not positive.

I can not make out the markings on the bolt. The bolt may be a replacement but that's minor compared to the other parts.

Love the rack numbers on the stock.

What's interesting about this piece. I've been speaking with someone FAR more knowledgable than me. And when someone shows him a 1903 rifle that's all if not nearly all correct he assumes its an NRA sales rifle. My sign that I look for is the NRA flaming bomb on the bottom of the triggerguard but that's not always the case. Apparently this serial number does not fall into a known block of NRA sales rifles. So it may be a service rifle that resisted refurbs for almost 102 years. Which is pretty amazing in itself.

Here are some pictures. I tried to get the major parts. If I am wrong on any part please correct me.
