Finally got around to testing some loads in my rem 700 adl with a 26" tube. This is solely a hunting rifle so I selected 130gr hornady sp and 130gr speer hot cor both flat base bullets shots won't be over 300yds. My rifle shot best with max loads with h4831sc. Not having a chronograph and just going by reloading books and barrel length I'm pushing close to 3100 fps. My thoughts are that a cup and core bullet may blow up on impact at close range while deer hunting and I should switch to a bonded bullet. Having no experience with hunting with a 270 I'm sure somebody here has used one on deer and can give me some insight .
