I just joined MD Shooters and this is my first thread! I've found it very helpful over the years when I've had questions or been doing research so it I figured it was time.
So here's my question: My dad bought an AK at a gun show in Frederick back in 94. He gave it me sometime in 98. No transfer paperwork was done nor does he have any original paperwork when he bought it. He lives in NJ now. I called MSP in 2010 and they said I could voluntarily register the rifle if I wanted but it was not mandatory so I chose not to. SB281 now considers my AK regulated. I don't have any proof that I possessed it prior to 10/01/14 so am I technically in violation of the law? Is there a way to register it or am I screwed?
Any insight would be appreciated.
