AR-15 build in .300 Blackout

mercredi 18 mars 2015

Folks, I just got here to the Forum yesterday so please excuse my request for help so soon. I have a problem that is forcing me to turn my new rifle itno a real fancy door stop or tomato Stake.

Here's my problem, as I stated I just built my first AR-15 in a .300 Blackout format. I went to the range to run a few 3 round groups to try and zero my scope. The first round chambered okay, and fired okay, but I didn't have enough travel in the bolt to cycle the next round. I tried this 3 or 4 more time with no jive. I then loaded one round, chambered the round, fired it, and still didn't have enough bolt travel to lock the bolt to the rear.

I'm also a re-loader and against my better judgement with a suggestion of a friend, I pushed two loads into the red area in hopes of cycling the bolt. I know, not really that smart. The first load was a Hornaday 168 gr. BTHP with a load of 14.9 gr. of H110. The second was a Hornaday 150 gr. Interlock SP with a load of 15.9 gr. of H110. Still got the same results, not enough bolt travel to cycle the next round.

I bought all my components at the same place and with the help of the Customer Service rep's help to direct me, I ordered the components. When I called their Customer Service rep yesterday he tells me that he suspects that the gas port on the Barrel, which is a 16" Blackhole Barrel, and the gas block need to have their ports drilled out and that they provide Gunsmith services. I asked why didn't your Rep tell me this before I bought the components. He then basically ignored what I was asking and tells me that they sell complete functioning uppers. I said, why should I have to now buy a compete upper when I have the same components that you use to build your Uppers that isn't functioning. To put and end to this whining, I didn't get much help from these folks.

Getting back to my problem, is there anyone out there that can help me with my problem or is there anyone in the MD/Del area I can bring my upper to? Thanks in advance for any help.
