2015 NSSF Rimfire World Championship

jeudi 26 mars 2015

I would like this thread to mirror some of the issues being brought up on Brian Enos's forum. Mainly several rule and operating issues that the NSSF, its sponsors, and to a lesser extent Mark, the MD (who is going along with these and providing both input and taking opinions).

Issue #1: They are going to convert the event into a Pro-Am format. Pros maybe paying as much as $200 for the entry. Amateurs will likely be paying the same as before, around $70. Juniors will also have their usual reduced fees. Pros will be shooting for cash pooled from their own entry fees and some sponsor monies specifically earmarked for that. Don't know how much. They are doing this to encourage the media to cover the event at a higher level to give the event more prestige.

Issue #2: Amateurs will have the usual prize table and they want to make it a drawing like all the other regional events. They also want the sponsors to spread their contributions out so that no single prize has a value of more than $300. That would eliminate most firearm prizes except possibly rifles.

The event is scheduled this year to be October 9-11, 2015 again at the Old Fort Gun Club, Ft. Smith AR. 14 stages and a possible sidematch also. All stages like last year will be individually different not shot twice with each firearm like some regionals, 7 each rifle and pistol. No stage will mirror any of the Steel Challenge stages and the NSSF is adament about that even though there are some in the rule book currently.
