It's that time again!! The Mid-Atlantic Fireworks festival is coming to southern Maryland for the 7th straight year.
Here are the changes to the lineup for this year's festivities;
- There will be 8 displays, including a "daytime" display comprised of colored smoke effects, salutes, and crackle noise set to music.
- For the first time there will be a "maltese wheel" display
- The "dead time" between shows will again be filled by various large specialty shells and effects.
All shows are choreographed, computer fired, and set to music.
This event is open to the public for spectating. If you're a long-time pryotechnician or just a newbie, and would like the opportunity to be in the field and help to set up a display, or you just want to see what it's all about, please drop me a PM.
The address is 10705 Allens Fresh Rd, Charlotte Hall
Gates open to the public at 5pm. I would suggest getting there around or even before then if you wish to "select" your spot. Also, be sure to bring blankets and/or warm clothes... it can get chilly when you're sitting around.
The hosts will be asking for a $10 donation per vehicle. 1/2 goes to cover their costs (port-a-pottys, cleanup expenses, road repairs, etc.) with the other half going to the local volunteer fire department (who are on-site during the displays)
Please no open fires or charcoal grills. Propane grills are acceptable. As this is a family-friendly event, if you chose to bring "adult" beverages please keep them discrete (e.g. in a solo cup). It's very kind of the land owners to allow us to use their property for this event. We want to respect their wishes, be kind to their facilities, and hopefully be welcomed back for many years to come.
