Low Cost 308 bullets

Ok,

So my dad ordered some of the Xtreme Bullets inexpensive 308 jacketed bullets after hearing someone say they used them on black out.

Well, I have been loading blackout for him using Hornady 3037 bullets which are pretty good cost wise and plenty accurate for him. Same bullets I'm using on my 308 and 30-06 reloads. Well, the Flat Tip Xtreme Bullets will jam pretty nasty in the blackout upper. Maybe playing with OAL can resolve that but I'm going to put them aside for now, my dad does not need that frustration.

Well, I took my IMR4895 load I have been using and loaded up some of these with the Xtreame bullets. At 100 yards in my 1903a3, I'm usually able to pull off about 2MOA from bags from my reloads. These did about 3 out of the 5 rounds I shot. They were low, but only used one click up and they were hitting the black circle. Loading them in the magazine yielded jams on 2 out of the 5. So for loading 1 at a time, its probably ok.

So, I'll use these for "guest rounds". Something I'll use if I have guests shooting the 1903a3 @ 50 yards.

I know these are better suited for a 30-30, but wanted to see what the ramifications were in other 308 bullet sized calibers.

10 cents a bullet is not bad, I've been paying 27 cents on average for the Hornady 3037. but there are the draw backs of course.
