The daily derp. Belt problems

lundi 20 avril 2015

I just bought a High Speed Gear 1.5" rigger belt for concealed carry. The belt is extremely well made and very comfortable but there's just one problem. It doesn't fit through any of my belt loops! I'm so aggravated that I didn't bother trying to thread it through while in the shop. Hopefully they'll return or exchange it for me.

FFL's can modify mags prior to sale - ship them to free state

Is it written online anywhere that states FFL's can modify magazines with a greater capacity than 10 rounds, to accept 10 rounds prior to transfer or sale of a firearm?

OR, is it written anywhere that states the FFL can legally ship the magazines to a neighboring state?

I am looking for a bill, or some sort of official document stating this. An FFL I deal with from time to time said the MSP told him he is not allowed to modify magazines or ship them out of state but it is my understanding he IS in fact allowed to do either one.

Chicago Uber Driver with CCW takes down shooter

That's right. A 47 year-old Uber driver with an IL carry permit defended himself and others against a deranged 22 year old. The Uber drive will not be charged.

Elk Neck Range Reminder

Please remember that incendiary, tracer or explosive rounds are prohibited at the Elk Neck State Forest Ranges.

That would include Dragon Breath shotgun rounds.

Brass shotgun shell priming

I have a box of new 12 ga. Brass shells made by Giulio Fiocchi Lecco in Italy. They need the #57 primer which is about .025 smaller than the current 209. Would it be possible to open the primer pocket to fit the 209. Don't want to ruin the brass it not feasible. Any suggestions?

Caliber conversion on a Savage short-action

Since there's been a few people that have asked, I'm going to do a down and dirty outline on how hard/easy it is to re-barrel a Savage 10 short-action.

Tools needed:

Barrel nut wrench - Wheeler has a decent set available at Midway, you WILL need it. http://ift.tt/1F6ZtSF

Receiver/action wrench - some say you can do with just barrel blocks, that wasn't my experience. Also available at Midway - http://ift.tt/1F6ZtSN

Go/No-Go gauges.

Sturdy bench-vise.

Rubber mallet, and a 2lbs. hard face mallet.

3/8" Torque wrench - optional, but I'd suggest using it if you have one available.

**Now there CAN be more needed parts if you're changing to a different caliber. Example - I swapped from a .223Rem to a .260Rem, so I needed a .308 bolt head and the related internal magazine parts since the .260 is a larger round that's based off the .308 case.
